Soccer Parenting's Latest

Starting the soccer season off on the right foot can be challenging, especially with all of the change typically happening in the Fall. Keeping things simple and having a plan can have a positive impact. Here are the Soccer Parenting tips to do just that! (Explore the article.)

The beautiful game can be complicated, even for parents with experience. In the recent episode of our "Soccer Talk Webinar Series" we hosted youth soccer coaching experts Jane Dawber and Adrian Parrish who answered your soccer questions live! Get access to the recording and transcript with a membership to the Soccer Parent Resource Center. (Try it for FREE!)

How do you handle parents who bully children from the sideline? What can you (and we) do to curb the hostile and distracting sideline behaviors that pop up all too often? Heather C. recently asked this question in our membership community. Seeing other parents lean in with words of comfort and advice is validation for what we're building. Have questions of your own? (Join us!)

Around the Game

Big news for the sport! As part of the U.S. Soccer Federation's strategic plan, Atlanta, GA will be the site of a state-of-the-art National Training Facility. The initiative recently received a huge boost from The Home Depot co-founder and Atlanta United owner, Arthur M. Blank, to the tune of $50 million. Beyond supporting elite-level training infrastructure, the contribution is meant to expand opportunities across the entire national soccer ecosystem. (Read the announcement.)

Soccer Parenting's August Book Club featured discussions with good friends John O'Sullivan and Dr. Jerry Lynch. Earlier this month, John wrote an article about winning and how a focus on it can negatively impact youth sports environments. In it, he asks, "if you are in a situation where everything is compromised in order to win, ask yourself is this really the type of environment I want my child in, or I want to coach in?" Really powerful stuff and well worth the read. (Explore the article.)

ICYMI...earlier in the month US Youth Soccer announced the award recipients from this year's National Championships. Congratulations to all of the honorees and all of the participants in the tournament! (See the list.)
